Imphal: “When tears fall, they’re not just yours; they’re ours too,” said Ngangbam Apu, a Bangladeshi Meitei, emphasizing the bond that transcends borders and bloodlines. “No matter the miles that separate us, our hearts beat as one with our homeland.”

He expressed the heartfelt desire of his community to stand shoulder to shoulder with their brethren in Manipur, especially amidst the turmoil caused by Kuki narco-terrorists. Though they longed to join hands in the fight against these terrorists, the geographical barrier prevented direct support, leaving only their shared love and concern.

During a press conference at Manipur Press Club, Ngangbam highlighted their community’s support by donating Rs. 175,000 to the Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF) in Manipur. This contribution, symbolizing solidarity, was handed over to PAWF Secretary Rakesh Naorem and directed to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to aid those affected by the ongoing conflict.

He revealed that Bangladeshi Meitei representatives visited Manipur and inspected eleven relief camps across various districts. Their purpose was to offer moral support and assess the needs of the displaced individuals residing in these camps.

The visited camps included Sugunu Municipal Relief Camp, Kha Maikei Kanba Relief Camp, Wangoo Ahallup Mayai Leikai Relief Camp, Wangoo Ahallup Higher Secondary School Relief Camp, Thanga Wangma High School Relief Camp (Thanga Moirangthem Leikai), Thanga Chingkha Relief Camp, Phayeng High School Relief Camp, Displaced Students Relief Camp at Meijrao, Mayang Imphal Relief Camp, District Sports Complex Relief Camp at Wangjing, and Nongada Relief Camp at Lamlai.

Ngangbam expressed gratitude for the efforts of volunteers in defending their motherland, emphasizing that they are safeguarding future generations.

He underscored the importance of preserving Manipuri culture, identity, language, script, literature, and sports. He urged both the Manipur state government and the Central government to swiftly resolve the conflict that has troubled the state for over a year.
