Pratapgarh: Six persons were sentenced to life imprisonment and a penalty of Rs 20,000 each by a local court here in the murder of a relative of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, prosecution counsel said here on Saturday.
District Government Counsel (DGC) Yogesh Sharma said that on October 22, 2014 Rajiv Yadav, nephew of SP leader Vijay Yadav, was shot dead in Patti area.
“A case was lodged against Ram Shlok Pandey, Premdhar Dubey alias Kallu, Rakesh Yadav, his brothers Kailash Yadav, Brajesh Yadav and Rakesh Yadav,” they said.
He said that after hearing the arguments of both the sides and evidence available on record the court held the six accused guilty.
“The court sentenced all the six accused to life imprisonment along with a penalty on Friday evening,” they said.
