UP: Boy killed by friends, two minor taken into custody

Police sources said that when the family members failed to trace Meraj, they informed the police. "On Tuesday morning information about a body lying in the jungle was received and it was identified as that of Meraj," they said.

Amethi: Body of a 14-year-old boy, who was allegedly killed by his friends, was recovered from the jungle in Jagdishpur area of Amethi district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said here.


Police sources said that Merah, a resident of Mohabbatpur village, along with his two minor friends had gone to watch Durga Puja on October 22. “While the two minors returned back, Meraj did not reach his house. When Meraj’s family members inquired the two minors about his whereabouts they failed to give a satisfactory answer,” they said.


Police sources said that when the family members failed to trace Meraj, they informed the police. “On Tuesday morning information about a body lying in the jungle was received and it was identified as that of Meraj,” they said.


Police sources said that the body was sent for postmortem examination and on the identification of Meraj’s family his two minor friends were taken into custody. “Meraj’s father Bakridi said that there was no enmity with the accused and their family members,” they said.


Station House Officer (SHO) Jagdishpur Rakesh Singh said that the two accused have been taken into custody and were being quizzed.
