UP: Army jawan shot dead in celebratory firing

Police sources said that after the doctors declared Babulal dead, the persons who took him to the hospital fled from the spot.

Sonbhadra (UP): An army jawan was shot dead in celebratory firing during a marriage function in the Robertsganj area in the district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Wednesday.

Police sources said that Babulal Yadav (35), who was posted as Havaldar in Jammu and Kashmir, had come to his native village Mahuari Tendu on leaving a few days back. “On Tuesday night sustained bullet injury during the marriage function in Brahma Nagar. He was taken to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead after examination,” they said.

Police sources said that after the doctors declared Babulal dead, the persons who took him to the hospital fled from the spot. “The police detained the groom and a few other persons and they are being quizzed,” they said.

Police sources said that the licensed pistol has been recovered near the stage.
