Imphal: A top leader of a Manipur-based banned militant organisation was arrested by Manipur police, a senior officer said here Monday.
Ashem Jiten Singh, son of Ashem Amuba Singh of Yaiskul, Hiruhanba Leikai, was arrested from IT road junction, Kangpokpi bazaar, by a police team led by SI S Raju of Kangpokpi PS under the supervision of Amrita Shina, IPS, SP, Kangpokpi.
Jiten was holding the charge of Finance Director for the outlawed militant organisation – United National Liberation Front (UNLF) at the time of arrested, said a statement.Â
Meanwhile, two persons were injured when a truck met an accident at Likhru Korii bridge, Senapati district on Tuesday.
The truck which was carrying cement fell down in a gorge beside the Mao – Imphal highway. The driver and another occupant were injured. Both were rushed to a hospital for treatment.Â
