Kohima: Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju and Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla were the star campaigners for the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly election to be held on February 27 next.
Addressing an election rally for BJP candidate Cheong at Mon town Friday, Sonowal asserted that the BJP-NDPP alliance was committed to working for peace, progress and prosperity of Nagaland.
He said the peace attained in the region and sustainable development in the region is the result of the vision of Prime Minister Modi, who is for the Northeast to give the new engine of growth for India.
He said PM Modi’s love and goodwill for Northeast knows no bounds and is evident from his 56 visits to the Northeast in the last 8 years. No Prime Minister of India has ever given so much importance for the development and growth of the Northeast before Narendra Modi.
Sonowal further stated that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the BJP-NDPP alliance will continue to work towards peace, progress and prosperity of Nagaland.
Sonowal was accompanied by the Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton; Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, John Barla and Nagaland Rajya Sabha MP S Phangnon Konyak.
Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, who campaigned for BJP candidates in Mon district of Nagaland on Friday said Tizit was home for BJP and assured that the Konyak community would be fully backed by Centre for all round development.
Addressing the rally at Tizit for sitting MLA and the BJP candidate P Paiwang Konyak, Rijiju he said whatever commitment was made by Paiwang was his commitment and his responsibility which would be fulfilled at any cost. He said Paiwang has great prospects for the future and a person with high calibre like him should be given a chance to represent them once again.
