Palakkad: Two people, including a woman, were killed and two seriously injured when a tourist bus overturned while negotiating a slope at Thiruvazhiyode near Sreekrishnapuram on Wednesday.
According to Sreekrishnapuram Police, the tourist bus owned by Kallada Travels, which was proceeding to Kozhikode from Chennai, was overturned around 0745 hrs. The deceased have not been identified yet.
The incident took place at Thiruvazhiyode, when 38 people, including the crews of the bus, were travelling when the bus lost control of the wheels, hit an electric post, and overturned on the road.
The injured were entrapped under the bus. The fire force, police personnel, and locals rushed to the spot, conducted rescue operations, and shifted the injured people to the nearby hospitals at Kadampazhipuram and Perinthalmanna hospitals.
The bodies of the two victims were shifted to the district hospital in Palakkad.
