Tripura to start physical class of VI-XII from tomorrow

Agartala: With the improved Covid-19 situation, the education department in Tripura has announced the resumption of physical classes reopening the schools for the students of Class VI to XII from tomorrow with necessary precautions and safety measures.

Director of Elementary and Secondary Education Ms Chandni Chandran said that in view of the reduction of positivity rate in Covid and considering the learning losses that had occurred due to pandemic situation, the education department with the approval of the State Disaster Management Authority has decided to start physical classes in secondary level from August 25.

Detailing the modalities of holding the classes, she advised the school authorities to function in a single shift if adequate rooms are not available, and maybe converted to a double shift with half students in each shift in all classes. The morning shift will be between 0800 hrs and 1100 hrs while the afternoon shift will be held between 1200 hr and 1500 hrs, she stated.

“Since classes are suspended for I to V, the teachers in those classes shall be deployed in class VI to VIII for Catch up campaign of Nutun Disha (a launched by the state to refresh the knowledge of upper-class student about their previous curriculum),” the notification mentioned adding that the school authorities have to ensure the compliance of Covid protocol.

It further stated that the use of face cover masks and maintaining physical distancing among the students and hygiene practices including regular washing of hands have been made compulsory both for the students and teachers, the order stated.

The district education officers were instructed to form inspection teams for ensuring the compliance of Covid protocol in all government, government-aided and Unaided private schools, Madrassas and other academic institutions operating in the State.
