Agartala: Tripura royal scion and opposition TIPRA Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has launched a scholarship to support the poor meritorious civil service aspirants in memory of his father, the last king of the state regent, Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarman.
“Our family has been the harbinger of the promotion of education, and my father was one of them. To recognize his dream, I have launched the Maharaja Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya Scholarship Programme for poor and meritorious civil service aspirants from our family’s account,” Pradyot said on Sunday.
He pointed out, “I was contemplating how I could contribute to uplifting my society, setting aside politics. That’s why we have initiated a scholarship program dedicated to my late father. This scholarship program is for those who have talent and potential but face financial constraints to pursue their dream.”
A society cannot develop solely through politics unless it aims to work for the youth so that, in the coming days, they can contribute to society by becoming civil servants, he said, adding that good and honest politicians, along with able and smart bureaucrats, can transform any region.
