Tripura CM leaves for Shillong with CS and DGP

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb along with Chief Secretary Kumar Alok and Director General of Police V S Yadav on Friday left for Shillong via Guwahati to attend the meeting of Union Home Minister Amit Saha and minister of DoNER G Kishan Reddy tomorrow with the chief ministers of Northeastern states to discuss on security issues, infrastructure development and tourism.
Before leaving for the airport, Chief Minister Deb had held a meeting with Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya at Raj Bhawan, which he claimed was a courtesy call.
Deb told media that the meeting of the home minister with CMs of Northeast states would be significant at this juncture when Prime Minister has given a special focus to the region.
Besides, discussion on various issues and challenges faced by the states regarding internal security, border management and fight against drug in view of the mission of union home minister Amit Saha to zero down the menace of drug in northeastern states by 2022, Deb stated.
“I shall sit with him separately after the meeting to discuss the specific issues of Tripura including our pending projects of Rs 8882 Cr for tribal development and also, to seek his support for some infrastructure development projects of the state,” Deb said.
According to report, a separate meeting would be held on July 25 next in the same venue by union home secretary with the Director General of Police of all the northeast where security issues would be discussed at length along with the strategies to deal with the crime.
