Tourism Minister Lukhoi flags off Swacchta campaign at Konthoujam Lairembi

Imphal: Tourism Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh Sunday flagged off ‘Cleanliness Campaign’ held under the theme “Let us join hands and make a dream village” at Konthoujam Lairembi, Konthoujam, Imphal West. This campaign is supported by North Eastern Council (NEC) under SWACCHTA Scheme and organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur.

Addressing the gatherings as Chief Guest, Minister Lukhoi stressed the importance of imbibing the concept of cleanliness by all sections of society, especially from the grassroots level to lead a healthy and prosperous life. He expressed that the SWACCHTA campaign was carried out in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who led the mass movement for cleanliness to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean and hygienic India. Shri Lukhoi also stated that cleanliness is the essential responsibility of all as a clean and healthy society will bring massive development in all sectors.

As in charge of the Tourism Department, the Minister further said that his department is always committed to the concept of clean surroundings with a view to attracting more tourists from different parts of the world. He appealed all to be part of this cleanliness campaign as it required concerted efforts and should carry out such campaigns frequently. 

Minister Lukhoi assured that he will discuss with the CM to include the budget for the development of the Konthoujam Lairembi religious site.

The function was also attended by Chairman, Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited (TCML) and Jiribam A/C, Shri Md. Ashab Uddin, Advisor to CM/MLA, Konthoujam A/C, Dr. Sapam Ranjan as Guest of Honour and President respectively. Commissioner (Tourism), Shri Devesh Deval, Director (Tourism), Shri Ibohal Singh, and officials of the Department graced the occasion.
