Imphal: A team of Thoubal police commandos arrested one active member of banned outfit PLA from Salungpham Maning Leikai near Ngatensoi bridge Wednesday.
The cadre has been identified as self-styled Corporal Chingtham Romio Meitei alias Bijando, 42, (Army no. 3310), son of late Ch Nabakeshwor Meitei of Kongba Laishram Leikai, Imphal East Dististrict.
The arrested person was handed over to Heirok Police Station for further legal action and a case has been registered at the same police station, as per a press note issued by the PRO, Manipur Police, W Basu.
Earlier on Tuesday at around 6.25 am a team of Imphal East commandos arrested one active cadre of PLA from Pangei Bazar namely self-styled Lance Corporal Army no.3293, Leishram Thobi Leima alias Lamyanbi, 22, daughter of L Manglemba Meitei of Kumbi Leirak Achouba, Bishnupur District, at present residing at Langjing Achouba, Imphal West District. And from her disclosure another cadre of the same outfit was also arrested from Gamphazol Village, Chandel District namely self-styled 2nd Lieutenant Army no. 3136, Yekokpam Sanajaoba Meitei alias Rojit, 35, son of Y Kesho Meitei of Litanpokpi Maning Leikai by a combined team of Imphal East commandos and 30 Assam rifles.
Further following his disclosure, one 9mm pistol loaded with 6 rounds in the magazine was recovered and seized at about 2.25 pm near a hut located at western side entrance of Gamphazol village, Chandel District. The arrested persons along with the seized articles were handed over to Heingang Police Station for further legal action.
In this regard a case has been registered at Heingang PS, a separate press note from the PRO, Manipur Police added.
