Imphal: Three persons including two women were arrested with heroin powder and detonators.
Briefing the media on Wednesday, Imphal East SP, M Pradip police said a woman identified as Veineichong was nabbed on Tuesday with 2.70 kg of heroin powder packed in 160 soap cases along with acash amount of Rs 5,000 at Senapati district. Another woman identified as Poukhurou was later nabbed at Imphal with 1.30 kg of opium and 13 gram of heroin powder .
From them police also recovered 30 blasting sticks, detonators, wire. Pradip said Veineichong had brought the heroin from Myanmar and the two women were preparing to hand over the items tosome persons from other states. The explosives were meant to be provided to suspected militants.
In another incident Assam Rifles and Manipur Police seized 447 kgs of poppy seeds worth Rs15 lakhs from an individual at Bishenpur district on Tuesday.
