New Delhi: Partnership between government and private sector is key in managing any crisis, Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani said on Wednesday.
‘During the pandemic, the industry stood up and proved to the world by not only manufacturing essential health equipment and vaccines but ensuring the saving of a number of lives. The fact that we as a country could witness the administration of 200 crore doses in a definite timeline speaks volumes about the capacity of the Indian healthcare industry,” she said while announcing the FICCI Healthcare Excellence Awards 2022.
C K Mishra, Former Secretary, of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, and Jury Chair, of the FICCI Healthcare Excellence Awards 2022, said there is a need for more investments to be made in the primary sector and the private sector can play a critical role in this.
‘As a nation, we need to strive to ensure people don’t fall sick rather than treating the sick patient, he added. “Digitization is one of the strongest enablers of the healthcare system,” Mishra said.
He also emphasized that the Indian healthcare sector needs more public-private partnerships in funding the pilot projects.
