Hyderabad: Students in Telangana, all around 17 years old led four NGOs Vibhaag Foundation, Every Paw Matters, Vishwasa and Arah have organized marathons and dogathon to raise funds for charitable causes, it was reported here on Sunday.
These funds will be used to take care of street dogs, and people suffering from mental health issues, especially in the slums and orphans, and promote menstrual hygiene for women and transgenders.
The dogathon was organized for the first time in the Telugu states.
Both the events were flagged by DCP (Traffic) T Srinivas Rao on Sunday morning near Kohenur, opposite Inorbit Mall, Madhapur in the city.
Speaking on the occasion Srinivas Rao said, it is very inspiring to see how socially aware these teenagers are. Their concern and consciousness towards the less privileged, senior citizens, and stray dogs are highly appreciable. As Cyberabad is always known for organizing innovative events and initiatives, these teenagers have organized a dogathon for the first time ever which is very laudable.
Seven teenagers Aanya Jain, Ashmit Tainwala, Anveshana Gupta, Aashi Pandey, Arshia Kumar, Pranav Verma, and Shreyans Kadiyala, all around 17 and 18 years, students in 12th grade or about to be promoted to the 12th grade have come together to put up a big show called “Heart & Sole Run- 2022″ has managed to raise rupees ten lakh (rupees five lakhs from donations and another five lakhs from the event).
These teens planned and executed the event in just ten days.
They will continue to host events like this regularly shared by Anveshana Gupta, and Shreyans Kadiyali.
The run was held in three different categories, 2.5K, 5k, and 10K.
Another run, dogathon held for the first time. It is a first-of-its-kind charity drive with a mission to raise funds to aid “Stray Animal Awareness”.
About 27 dogs and their owners participated in the 2.5 km dogathon event.
In the dogathon race, SKYE, a Siberian Husky participated and all the dogs who participated were given medals.
400 plus people participated in both the runs put together.
The two events were organized by the four teenagers who founded the NGO. Every Paw Matters is volunteers led one supports dogs and other pets in need; Vishwasa, an organization aiming to teach life skills, offers mental health, attention to the underprivileged, and raises mental health awareness simultaneously and the International Association of Lions Clubs, the biggest service organization in the world. Arah works for awareness of menstrual hygiene of women and transgenders.
In one year since this NGO was founded, they reached out to around 1,000 women and transgenders.
According to its founder Anvesha, they reached out to 30 transgenders.
Vibhaag Foundation is a student-run foundation and led by Aamit Tainwala. It has raised funds in the past for a Charitable Clinic for Women and Children of Slum area run by Lions Club of Hyderabad Petals.
Even the medicines required to run the clinic for one year were arranged by the student-run NGO, Vibhaag Foundation.
Arshia Kumar of Vishwas says they impart life skills such as communication, stress management, anger management, goal setting, times management, leadership skills, mental health management, etc to underprivileged Children and orphans.
