Hyderabad: The Congress on Friday released its second list of candidates, comprising 45 names, for the upcoming Telangana state Assembly elections.
With this, the Congress declared 100 candidates so far out of 119 assembly constituencies in the state where elections are to be held on November 30.
The party declared its first list, of 55 candidates, on October 15. It is yet to finalise candidates for 19 constituencies.The announcement comes a day after the Congress Election Committee meeting on Telangana was held at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) office in New Delhi.
In the second list, the grand old party has fielded former India cricket captain and former MP, Mohammad Azharuddin from Jubilee Hills and former Lok Sabha MP Madhu Goud Yaskhi from L B Nagar.
Among the prominent leaders, Tummala Nageshwar Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy are being fielded from Khammam and Palair assembly constituencies respectively.While Former MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who quit the BJP on Thursday and joined Congress on Friday morning, has been given a ticket to contest from Munugode, Vijaya Reddy, daughter of late P Janardhan Reddy and GHMC Corporator, will be contesting from Khairatabad.
The party also named Ponnam Prabhakar and Vodithala Pranav, as Husnabad and Huzurabad assembly constituencies while Balladeer Gaddar’s daughter GV Venella was given the Secunderabad Cantonment ticket.
While the candidates for the Kamareddy and Gajwel, from where Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will be contesting, were yet to be announced.
The notification for the Telangana elections will be issued on November 3 and the polling will take place on November 30. The results will be announced on December 3.
