Imphal: The Thadou Community International (TCI) has vehemently condemned the cold-blooded murder of Satkhohao Haokip, which took place on the night of September 30, 2024, in Churachandpur district. Armed miscreants, whose identities remain unknown, carried out this brutal crime.

In a statement, TCI expressed deep outrage over the senseless act, which has left the local community in shock. The organization described the killing as a grim reminder of the rising violence and lawlessness in the area.

It is worth noting that this is not the first instance of such violence. On August 2, 2024, an attempt was made on the life of Th. German Haokip by unidentified assailants, and on August 31, 2024, the ancestral home of Michael Lamjathang Haokip, a prominent Thadou leader, was set ablaze by unknown perpetrators. To date, none of the individuals responsible for these attacks have been apprehended.

This situation raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of local law enforcement. TCI criticized the district police for their failure to address these incidents, suggesting that their inaction has emboldened criminal elements to continue their unlawful activities unchecked.

The organization also expressed disappointment over the silence from civil society and public leaders, which it believes has only heightened the anxiety and unrest in the district.

TCI has urged the state government to enhance security in vulnerable areas to prevent further atrocities. It also called for immediate action to bring those responsible for Satkhohao Haokip’s murder to justice, ensuring they are prosecuted under the full extent of the law.

Expressing solidarity with the family of the late Satkhohao Haokip, TCI extended its heartfelt condolences. As a peace-driven organization, it appealed to public leaders, civil society, and law enforcement agencies to unite in the fight against violence and to foster peace and respect for human life.
