TCI lauds safe release of two Meitei youths

Imphal: Thadou Community International (TCI) has expressed appreciation for the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) for ensuring the safe release of two Meitei youths who inadvertently crossed the buffer zone and entered Kangpokpi district at Gamgiphai on September 27, 2024.

The youths were held safely in COTU’s custody, and TCI commended this gesture as a testament to COTU’s commitment to peace, humanity, and unity. In a statement, TCI noted that the release of the individuals represents a significant step toward trust-building and peace in the region.

As a peace-advocating organization, TCI praised COTU’s leadership for prioritizing dialogue, cooperation, and concern for human life. TCI also extended its gratitude to the Manipur Police for their role in safely escorting 11 undertrials, ensuring their handover to their respective families.

The statement further emphasized that this development rekindles hope for peaceful coexistence among communities. TCI urged all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue, address underlying issues, and foster an environment of trust and cooperation.
