Imphal: The Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association (SSIAA) has congratulated Asem Hemochandra on being promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
Asem Hemochandra, the third son of Late Asem Nityai and Asem Angoubi Devi of Thoubal Awang Leikai, Manipur, is an alumnus of Sainik School Imphal, 11th Batch, bearing Adm. No. 626.
He joined S.S.B. as Asst. Commandant in the year 1998. He graduated from DM College of Science, Imphal and did his Post Graduate from Nagpur University. In the professional front, officer has performed various duties, such as Anti Insurgency, Anti Naxal Operations, Border Guarding, Internal Security etc in different parts of the country.
The service career of the officer remained outstanding. He was awarded the 4th Director General’s Disc with Commendation Roll, which is the 2nd highest Disc. He is also decorated with the President’s Medal for meritorious service. The officer is presently commanding a prestigious Training Center of SSB in Uttar Pradesh (U.P.).
He is a National Level Basketball player. Besides this, at present, he participates in the All India Police Badminton competition too. He also actively participated in the activities of the Manipur Basketball Association and Thoubal District Basketball Association in promoting sports among youths of Manipur, according to a press note from SSIAA.
