Speaker Kehmchand greets on May Day

Imphal: Speaker of the Manipur State Legislative Assembly, Y Kehmchand greeted the people on the occasion of May Day.

In his message, the Speaker said, “ 1^st of May every year began to be celebrated as the International Workers Day festival by socialist, communist in 1889 to commemorate Haymarket Affair in Chicago quite different from the traditional May Day which was celebrated as spring festival”.

The Speaker further said that this is the day “to salute hard work and dedication of strong-willed souls around us. With hard work comes great satisfaction”.
