Chandigarh: Congress president Sonia Gandhi will announce the name of the new Chief Minister of Punjab on Sunday, a party leader said.
Talking to reporters, state Congress working president Pawan Goel said the decision to pick a new CM of Punjab will be taken by Gandhi as a resolution on the same was passed at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on Saturday.
Capt Amarinder Singh had resigned from the Chief Minister’s post on Saturday amid infighting fueled by state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Punjab is slated to go to Assembly polls next year.
