Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh emphasized the importance of singing the State song and National anthem during morning assemblies in schools and colleges, stating that it would foster a sense of belonging, discipline, and nationalism among students.

Speaking at the inauguration of a two-day mega job fair (Rozgar Mela) at Liberal College, Luwangsangbam, on Saturday, he highlighted that discipline is a prerequisite for development in any society. He urged the youth to cultivate discipline and respect for parents, elders, and teachers.

During the event, the Chief Minister shared that his government is actively providing skill development training to inmates at various relief camps. These inmates produce goods that the government purchases, adds value to, and exports outside the state. He expressed optimism that with the proper utilization of resources and potential, Manipur would see rapid development.

Additionally, N. Biren Singh mentioned that approximately 40,000 women in hill areas are being trained in food processing under TRIFIED programs. Their value-added products, including fruit items, are now available in organic outlets across major Indian cities.

The Chief Minister further stressed that creating a safe and secure society is a collective responsibility, ensuring that indigenous people live without fear of demographic changes, economic instability, or threats to their identity.

Minister for Information and Public Relations, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, added that the government is focused on skilling the state’s youth through various development programs, highlighting their potential to excel when given the right training.

Education Minister Th. Basantakumar Singh noted the importance of bridging the socio-economic gap by equipping young people with skills that create opportunities regardless of their backgrounds. He revealed that vocational training programs have been launched in around 40 higher secondary schools, and skill-based courses are now available in government colleges under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan.

The event was attended by Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana Devi, various administrative officials, faculty, and students of Liberal College.

Later, at a press briefing at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, N. Biren Singh expressed his gratitude to Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Assam government for addressing the long-standing demand of Manipuris in Assam.

The Assam Official Language (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which recognizes Manipuri as an Associate Official Language in the districts of Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Hojai, was tabled by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika during the autumn session of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
