Gangtok: The Citizen Action Party has demanded a white paper on the state of the rehabilitation work following the flash floods in Sikkim earlier this month.
A CAP delegation, led by Ganesh Rai – the outfit’s founder cum Chief Coordinator – visited the flood affected areas on Saturday.
Referring to a preliminary report of the party’s fact finding committee on the adversity, CAP leaders pressed for a white paper on the rehabilitation work undertaken for flash flood victims by the State Government. The CAP activists have questioned the government about the rehabilitation arrangements.
They complained that the state’s Sikkim Krantikari Mocha government has “erred at every step”.
“We will raise our voice till all those affected are rehabilitated. We demand issuance of White Paper on the recent floods. And assessment of loss, damages to be done speedily and compensation to be given,’ said DB Chuhan, CAP Working President.
Former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling visited Dikchu , Phidang, on Saturday and listened to the victims’ grievances.
