Shutdown called during Modi’s Tuesday trip to Manipur

The Cor Com said in a statement here that there will be a total shutdown in Manipur from 1 am on Tuesday till the departure of the Prime Minister.

Imphal: The Coordination Committee (CorCom), an umbrella body of Manipur-based insurgent outfits, on Sunday called a shutdown on Tuesday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the state to campaign for the BJP in the coming Assembly polls.

The CorCom also called for boycott of the Prime Minister’s visit. Modi is slated to address a public meeting at Imphal.

The Cor Com said in a statement here that there will be a total shutdown in Manipur from 1 am on Tuesday till the departure of the Prime Minister.

In view of the Prime Minister’s impending visit, security has been tightened in the state and frisking of people and vehicles have started. Police have erected check posts at various parts of the state to check any untoward incidents.
