Islamabad: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said that her government wants stronger trade ties and economic collaboration with Pakistan, Dawn reported on Tuesday.

Hasina said this while talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Ahmed Siddiqui during their meeting in Dhaka.

According to a statement by the foreign office, the two sides agreed to promote trade relations between the two countries.

This was the second meeting between Ms Hasina and Mr Siddiqui in nearly eleven months and took place at a time when there is a growing feeling on both sides that the ties between the two countries have remained in deep freeze for over a decade now.

Ms Hasina is scheduled to make her first visit to Pakistan soon.
