Gangtok: Doma T Bhutia, the first woman Additional Advocate General of Sikkim, on Saturday said that women should air their grievances loud and clear.
“Due to fear and social stigma, many women do not express openly, but they should not hesitate. Screening of victims discourages them. Women should be respected and gender inequality should be removed,” she said while suggesting various steps that women may take in case of victimization.
The government has been stressing awareness among women regarding Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal, if and when anyone happens to be a victim of sexual harassment at work, said Minister for Women and Child ML Sharma.
The Minister believed there could be no better occasion than Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to empower the women and make them aware of their rights and facilities for protection with redressal.
