Imphal: On June 27, 2024, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted a search operation in the general area of New Bizang village, Churachandpur, recovering two SLR rifles, one .315 rifle, eight single barrel rifles, one improvised mortar, and accompanying ammunition. The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police.
Previously, security forces carried out search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. During these operations, the following items were recovered:
- One improvised gun (locally known as Pompi)
- One SBBL (single barrel breech loading) gun
- One muzzle-loaded rifle
- One .22 pistol with a magazine
- Three country-made pistols with three magazines
- One locally made single barrel gun
- One blank cartridge
- Two mini flare single cartridges (red)
- Six tube launchers
- Two arming rings
- One HE grenade without a detonator
- One 2-inch mortar shell
- One old bomb shell
- One BAOFENG walkie-talkie with a charger
These items were recovered from the Kongba Maru Hill Range in Imphal East District.
