Itanagar: Newly sworn-in Governor of the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General (Retd) Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik on Thursday said securing the country’s borders in the state and its infrastructure development would be his “top priorities”, official sources said.
The former Northern Army Commander took oath as the 20th Governor of the Frontier State earlier in the day.
“After the swearing-in, the Governor expressed his commitment to work for the welfare of the people of the state. He said that infrastructure development and securing our borders would be his top priorities for the state,” a communiqué from the Raj Bhavan said.
Situated in the northeastern most part of India, Arunachal Pradesh shares the international boundaries with Bhutan (160 km), China (1,080 km) and Myanmar (440 km), totaling 1680 km.
Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik was administered the oath by the Gauhati High Court Judge, Justice Nani Tagia in a ceremony at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan here in presence of State Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Speaker PD Sona, Council of Ministers, legislators, senior government officers and others.
