Pune: Considering the safety of students and surging positivity rates of Covid cases in the Pune district, schools will continue to remain closed for the next few days, informed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar here on Saturday.
The state government has already declared its plans to reopen schools on Monday.
After a review meeting with the top district commissioner, collector and health officials here Mr Pawar told the reporters that cases of Covid are increasing day by day in Pune, that is why they took this decision.
Mr Pawar, who is also the Pune district guardian minister has appealed to the parents of students to follow the rules and guidelines of the government, wear masks and use sanitisers.
He further said that as per health officials, the positivity rate in Pune is likely to continue for the next eight days.
