Moscow: Russian troops made a successful landing at Hostomel airfield in the suburbs of Kiev, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Friday.
“On February 24, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out a successful landing operation in the area of the Hostomel airfield in the suburbs of Kiev. More than 200 Russian helicopters were involved in the operation… During the capture of the airfield, more than 200 nationalists from Ukrainian special units were killed. There are no casualties among Russian forces,” he said.
The success of the operation was ensured by the suppression of the entire air defense system in the area, air support and electronic warfare, Konashenkov noted.
