Imphal: The Deputy Commissioner Imphal East, Khumanthem Diana Devi has issued a notice to the residents who have constructed unauthorized structures along river banks, to dismantle and remove them immediately and within seven days, from June 8, 2024, the date of issue of this notice.
The notice comes in the wake of reports that “several unauthorized structures / establishments, both permanent and temporary in nature, have been encroached upon erected along the river banks and drainage systems within the revenue jurisdiction of Imphal East district despite several cases of eviction/removal of such structures by the Government and district authorities from time to time, thereby, obstructing the normal flow of water, especially, during the monsoon season”.
The notice warned that failure to comply with this directive would result in the initiation of eviction procedures by the concerned line departments.
