Gangtok :Chief Minister PS Tamang, also holding Personnel & Grievances portfolio, has increased maternity leave.’ I am delighted to declare leave at par’.
He introduced 365 days maternity leave for employees on Adhoc, Muster Roll, Contract ,those paid from consolidated funds and Co-terminus basis under the state government.Not only that the male Govt employees working on similar service conditions have also been allowed 30 days Paternity leave, from the date of confinement of wife. Probationary Teachers ,under Education Dept will also be allowed to avail the same.
However, the period of leave is not to exceed period of appointment.A notification to this effect was issued by Secretary Deptt of Personnel, Rinzing Chewang Bhutia, Saturday.
In view of decline in fertility rate ( 1.1%) in Sikkim , the steps to save the ethnic population are being introduced.
