Imphal: A progressive fish farmer from Manipur has brought pride to the state through remarkable achievements in fisheries and aquaculture, receiving several prestigious awards and recognitions at the state and national levels.
The farmer has been actively involved in promoting scientific fish farming and sustainable aquaculture practices. To strengthen his technical knowledge, he participated in several training programmes organized by the Manipur Fisheries Department and National Research Institutions.
In June 2014, he successfully completed a five-day Short-Term Course on Fish Farming Technology organized by the District Fishery Office, Imphal West. The programme provided practical training on pond preparation, fish seed management, feeding practices, and modern aquaculture techniques.
Later, from 28–30 June 2017, he attended a three-day Skill Development Training on Wetland Management, organized by the Department of Fisheries in collaboration with the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB). The training focused on sustainable management of wetlands and improving fish production. Experts and scientists from ICAR and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal West delivered technical sessions during the programme.

His dedication and innovation in fish farming have earned him several prestigious awards. On 5 November 2021, he secured First Prize in the Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition, organized by Department of Fisheries, Manipur. On 11 July 2022, he received the Best Progressive Fish Farmer Award during the 22nd National Fish Farmers’ Day, organized by the ICAR Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research, Bhimtal, Nainital.
In December 2022, he was honored with the Haricharan Das Memorial Best Progressive Farmer Award by the North-East Society for Fisheries and Aquaculture during the International Conference on Responsible Aquaculture and Sustainable Fisheries Interact 2022.
He also received the Innovative Farmer Award during the Krishi Kumbha Mela held from 4–6 January 2023 at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya.
Further recognizing his contribution to agriculture and aquaculture, he was awarded the IARI Innovative Farmer Award 2026 at ICAR, New Delhi, during the programme held from 25–27 February 2026.
Apart from these recognitions, he has also been invited several times as an interaction guest speaker to share his experience with fellow farmers and agricultural stakeholders. These interaction sessions were held on 7 March 2023, 23 December 2023, 25 October 2024, and 18 November 2025.
His continuous efforts and achievements have made him a role model for aspiring fish farmers and have significantly contributed to the promotion of sustainable fisheries development in Manipur.
