Imphal: In continuation of the mass poppy destruction drive, a combined team of District Police Kangpokpi, MPTC, 4 IRB, 7 MR, 1MR, 9IRB, SIT and Forest department along with SDM Lungtin destroyed 21.8 acres of the illegal poppy plantation at Tingpibung Hill range under the jurisdiction Saikul Police Station, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
On the same day, Thoubal commandos and Women Police TBL arrested one Khulakpam Abdul Ali alias Raghu (32yrs) son of Late Md. Suyeb Ali of Yairipok Changamdabi Mayai Leikai, Manipur and seized the following items from his house, suspected Heroin No. 4 powder weighing 906 gms, suspected opium weighing 936 gms, suspected Ammonium Chloride powder weighing 279 gms and suspected brown sugar weighing 5 gms.
On his disclosure, the police team also arrested one Khuleibam Muhamuddin alias Ibocha (60 yrs) son of Late Md. Angou of Yaripok Changambabi Mayai Leikai and seized the following items from his possession: one double barrel gun marked as “25003-2014 BHATT & Co”, one empty case and one ammunition of Double Barrel marked as “12 SHAKTIMAN 12EXPRESS”
He also revealed that the Brown Sugar and Heroin seized from Khulakpam Abdul Ali were manufactured at his house. On house search, suspected Brown Sugar residue weighing 1.491 kgs and other utensils and lime weighing a total of 28 kgs suspected to be used in manufacturing illegal drugs were recovered.
Both the arrested persons along with seized items were handed over to Andro Police Station for further investigation, the press note added.
