Police seize net cash of Rs 20 lakhs in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The city Police have seized net cash of 20 lakhs in the denomination of Rs 2000 and Rs 500.

On Friday evening M Mahesh, SI, along with IS Sadan Police staff in Hyderabad, was conducting vehicle checks around 1700 hours when they stopped a Swift Dzire vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, a cloth bag containing a substantial amount of cash was discovered. When questioned about the cash, one of the individuals in the car, identified as Vittal, could not provide a satisfactory explanation for carrying such a large sum of money. He also failed to produce proper documents or evidence regarding the source of the cash, a police statement said on Saturday.

In response to the situation, SI Mahesh summoned two witnesses, and in their presence, the individuals in the car identified themselves as Vittal, Nagaraju, Srikanth Reddy, and Venkatesh. Vittal, who claimed ownership of the money, stated that Nagaraju and Srikanth Reddy were employees of the 101 Acres Real Estate, and Venkatesh was an Uber driver. Vittal explained that he intended to use the cash to purchase a plot through the 101 Acres Real Estate company, traveling from Kukatpally to LB Nagar via Uber.

Further investigation is underway, the statement added.
