Police complain against Sikkim Congress chief for maligning former legislators

Gangtok: A police complaint has been filed against Sikkim state Congress president Gopal Chettri for allegedly using “unparliamentary language to malign” former legislators of the state.

President of Former Legislator’s Federation, Sikkim, DB Thatal, lodged the complaint at Sadar Police Station against Chettri for calling ex-MLAs “namarda” (unmanly) and “napunsak” (useless) in Nepali.

The expressions have been circulating on social media, the complaint said.
‘He has made unwarranted allegations against the former legislators, using unparliamentary language to malign them, (and) instigating (the) public, abusing his post,” Thatal said in the complaint, seeking legal action against Chettri.
