Agartala: The police are still clueless after three days of the mysterious death of 27-yr-old newly married Aniruddha Chakraborty in Ramnagar area of the city.
The victim’s family registered a case of unnatural death with police, suspecting the involvement of the deceased wife.
The Superintendent of Police (West) Manik Das said that the investigation has been going on covering all possible angles. However, police are analysing the circumstantial evidence collected from the spot and waiting for the forensic and post mortem report to conclude the first phase of investigation.
“The body doesn’t have any external injury mark except for a strangulation mark on the neck,” Das said.
According to reports, Aniruddha got married to Durgabati Bhattacharjee of the city on April 26 last. Durgabati belongs to a complete vegetarian family but Aniruddha’s family is non-vegetarian, which was a triggering point of difference between Durgabati and her husband and in-laws. Reportedly, she had refused to cook the non-vegetarian items in the family in the very first of her in-law house.
The victim’s family claimed that Aniruddha was found dead inside his room on May 21 last in the morning after his wife raised an alarm in the family. Durgabati claimed in the early morning she had a chat with the husband and afterwards she went out to prepare morning tea and breakfast.
After sometime, when she came back to the room, she found Aniruddha was hanging. The other family members also joined her and immediately sent to hospital where Aniruddha was declared dead. Meantime, the wife had gone back to her parental home.
The victim’s parents alleged that the total circumstance of the incident indicated a suspicious role of Durgabati and they believed Aniruddha did not die by hanging rather he was killed in a planned manner. The family also accused her of maintaining a relationship with another youth even after the marriage, which her husband got to know and they had quarreled over the issue.
