Police arrests six drug peddlers in Baramulla

Police arrested a drug Peddler identified as Amir Hussain Dar, a resident of Wagoora during checking at Kachwa Muqam Chandoosa and recovered 50 grams of Charas like substance from him.

Srinagar:Police on Monday claimed to have arrested six drug peddlers and recovered Charas and brown sugar from them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police arrested a drug Peddler identified as Amir Hussain Dar, a resident of Wagoora during checking at Kachwa Muqam Chandoosa and recovered 50 grams of Charas like substance from him.

The accused was taken into custody immediately, police said.

Another drug Peddler identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Lone of Ferozpora Tangmarg was arrested at Ferozpora Tangmarg during a routine checking alongwith 30 grams of contraband Charas like substance.

Police in a similar way arrested a drug Peddler Abdul Hameed Najar, a resident of Goshbugh who was coming from Durhama towards Kreeri and was carrying a nylon bag. Upon seeing the police party he tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.

During search of the bag 4 Kgs of contraband Poppy Straw and one gram Brown Sugar like substance was recovered.

Police also arrested a drug Peddler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Hajam of Tarhama Kunzer who was coming from Hardu Aboora towards Hardu Aboora Bridge and upon seeing the Patrolling party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended.

During the search 25 grams of contraband Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Two more drug Peddlers, identified as Reyaz Ahmad Khan and Tariq Ahmad Khan, both residents of Janbazpora Baramulla, were arrested during checking.

The duo were coming from Chakloo towards Baramulla and upon seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.

During their personal search 85 grams of contraband Charas like substance was recovered from them.

Cases under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were registered in concerned Police Stations and investigations set in motion, police said.

Police said that general People of the area hailed the efforts of Baramulla Police and showed their willingness to support police to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.
