PM Modi appeals voters to exercise their franchise

In a tweet, the PM wrote, "Today is the fifth phase of festival of democracy in Uttar Pradesh. I appeal to all the voters to exercise their franchise."

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appealed to voters to exercise their franchise as the fifth phase of polling started in Uttar Pradesh. Voting is underway for 61 Assembly seats in UP.

The polling which started at 0700 hours will continue till 1800 hours.

In a tweet, the PM wrote, “Today is the fifth phase of festival of democracy in Uttar Pradesh. I appeal to all the voters to exercise their franchise.”

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a tweet urged the people to vote in large numbers and choose a government which will ensure development as well as security of the people of the state.

BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda also tweeted, “My appeal to voters of all 61 seats to exercise their franchise. I urge the first time voters to come forward to strengthen the democracy.”
