Mumbai: Winning a World Cup title in any format this year is the main objective and the new year resolution of India T20I captain Hardik Pandya.

“The biggest new year resolution is to win the World Cup. We would go out there and try to give everything,” Pandya told reporters on the eve of the Sri Lanka series.

India is in the hunt of qualifying for the World Test Championship final in June and ODI World Cup this year.

Pandya will lead the 16-member side which is deprived of services of regular skipper Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli for the three T20 matches.

Both star players will return for the three ODIs to follow as India begin preparations to host the 50-over World Cup later this year.

Responding to a query, Pandya said India is aiming to settle scores with Sri Lanka. Dasun Shanaka’s Sri Lanka had outwitted India in last year’s Asia Cup T20 tournament in the UAE.
