Imphal: The Meitei Leepun, a Meitei organisation that has been blamed by Kuki groups for allegedly instigating the violence in Manipur, Thursday strongly condemned the horrific video of two women being paraded naked on a road by a group of men in Manipur, which went viral since Wednesday.

The incident, which drew massive condemnation and call for action against the perpetrators, happened on May 4 in B. Phainom village under Kangpokpi district, according to a statement by Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum.

Terming women ‘symbols of sanctity and revered with the highest honour, the Leepun said the horrific incident by an unruly mob against the two women has lowered our heads with shame in front of the world.

It said that they are the proud sons of brave Emas (mothers) who had fought the mighty Britishers for land today.

“It’s against the present mass struggle, however, it is ready to safeguard the integrity of Manipur,” it added.
