Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday took a dig at Samajwadi Party (SP) members, who created ruckus during Governor Anandiben Patel’s joint address in the State Legislature and said that a per who cannot respect ‘Matru Shakti’, cannot be expected to respect ‘Aadhi Abadi (half of the country’s population).
Expressing regret over the sloganeering and ruckus by SP members during the Governor’s address in the budget session, Yogi said, “Besides being the Constitutional head of the state, the Governor also represents Matru Shakti. Being a Matru Shakti, she should have been given the respect of being heard. But those who cannot respect Matru Shakti, how will they respect half of the country’s population?.”
He said that often the Constitutional head discusses the achievements and future plans of the government in his or her address. “This is not a new thing. When the President addresses only achievements and future plans are depicted. In such a situation, creating ruckus and shouting slogans during the speech cannot be called appropriate. The SP members had full opportunity to present their views in the house,” he said.
Targeting SP, the CM said, “If the public is rejecting you because of your exploits, then the people of UP cannot be blamed for this. Everyone should feel proud about the achievements of UP, whether he is of the party or of the opposition, but they feel proud to show UP backward and sick, which shows their malicious intentions.”
He said, “When their government was in power, they could not do anything and now when UP is on the path of development, they are still feeling bad about it. Previous governments may also have contributed to today’s schemes, but the double engine government has taken forward the new schemes along with the pending ones.”
Yogi said, “What do you want to prove by speaking bad about UP? The truth is that you don’t really have the courage to accept the truth and the habit of denial has brought UP to this situation. This is not hidden from anyone.
Today UP is number one in the country in food grain production. The state has immense grace of nature and God. UP has 11 per cent of the country’s agricultural land, but it contributes 20 per cent to the country’s total produce. The state is number one in the production of peas, wheat, gram, sugarcane and milk.”
He said that UP is number one in the country in terms of providing free gas connections to 1.74 crore poor families. “Maximum number of the expressways are in UP today. The state is number one in providing maintenance allowance to street vendors. Be it the area of agricultural investment or the construction of the maximum number of medical colleges in the country, UP is at the first position in the country today,” he said.
The CM said that the previous government gave benefits of schemes in the name of caste and religion, but his government is working with the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas’. “We do not look at any caste while providing toilets, housing, free ration, pension or treatment to the poor, all sections of the society are getting the benefits of these schemes equally,” he said.
He said that his government is working simultaneously on many fronts for women’s safety and respect, as a result of which there has been a significant decline in crimes against women. “Women are being recruited in the security forces. Women are being linked to One District, One Product (ODOP) and other schemes,” he said.
