Imphal: Troops of Assam Rifles shot dead an alleged insurgent at Jiribam, the paramilitary force said on Saturday.
The Assam Rifles official said one 7.62mm AK rifle alongwith 26 rounds of ammunition was recovered from the alleged insurgent on Friday.
In another incident on Saturday, Manipur Police nabbed an alleged insurgent at Kongba, Imphal.
The troops of Assam Rifles also arrested an active cadre of the banned outfit People’s Liberation Army (PLA) group at New Bazar stand of Churachandpur on Friday. The apprehended cadre was handed over to Churachandpur PS for further investigation.
Meanwhile, an active KYKL cadre insurgent was arrested by a combined team of Manipur police and Assam Rifles in Waikong, Kakching District, on Friday.
