Odisha cabinet approves 9 mega piped water supply projects worth over RS 1287.85 cr

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday approved nine mega piped water supply projects in three district worth over Rs 1287.85 crores.in a bid to provide safe drinking water to the people.


Odisha Chief Secretary S C Mohapatra briefing newspersons after the cabinet meeting said the projects would be executed in Jajpur, Malkangiri and Nayagarh districts and the funds for the execution of the project would be made out of JJM funding.


Over 7.59 lakh people in nine blocks of Jajpur, Malkangiri and Nayagarh districts will be benefitted after completion of the projects.


Two blocks—Bari and Korei block of Jajpur district, four blocks —Khairaput, Maithili, Kalimela and Malkangiri blocks of Malkangiri and Ganja, Daspalla and Nuagaon blocks of Nayagarh district will be benefitted by the projects.
All the nine projects have been targetted to be completed in 24 months.
The cabinet approved the lowest tenders of M/S Kotla-JMC jV , Mumbai amounting to Rs 254,66,20,542 for the execution of projects in Jajpur district and Rs 393,93,18,691 for execution of projects in Nayagarh district and the lowest tender of M/S SPML INFR lTD in JV with KEC International, Mumbai amounting to Rs 639,26,90,220 for the execution of the piped water projects in Malkangiri district.


The cabinet also approved a proposal for enhancement of Granti-in Aid to eligible employees of aided non government colleges including erstwhile Junior colleges with effect from January 1, 2022.


Approximately 15711 teaching and non-teaching staff will get the benefit and the government will have to bear additional burden of Rs 290 crore per annum.


In another decision, the cabinet approved the proposed amendment of the Odisha state Commission for Backward Classes Act 1993 to enable the state government to include backward classes in the state list of SEBC if they have been specified in the central list of OBCs for Odisha.
