Shillong: The National People’s Party (NPP)-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA 2.0) government on Thursday won the vote of confidence by voice-vote in the house with an overwhelming majority.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is leading the six party government with the support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), three regional parties and two Independent MLAs, moved the vote of confidence after Speaker Thomas Sangma put the House.
The MDA 2.0 government was installed on March 7 after the NPP which emerged as the single largest party with 26 legislators were elected in the just concluded assembly polls as members of the 60- member House assembly.
The MDA 2.0 government has the support of 45 MLAs, of which 26 are from the National People’s Party (NPP), 11 United Democratic Party legislators, two legislators each from the BJP, People’s Democratic Front and Hill State People’s Democratic Party, besides two Independent legislators.
The Trinamool Congress and the Congress won five seats each, while the new entrant Voice of the People Party secured four seats.
