Lucknow: Reaching out to the upper caste particularly Brahmins in view of the coming 2022 assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati announced that if her party comes to power then a commission would be set up to enquire into all the atrocities and injustice done by the present BJP government as well as previous SP government.
Mayawati, who had faced severe criticism during her past regime in UP over statues and memorials, also announced that in future they will not construct any statues, memorials or parks.
“Our agenda to set up statues, memorials and parks have been completed and now in future , if we are voted to power, then our main thrust will be on infrastructure development to generate jobs and well being of the people,” she said.
Ms Mayawati was speaking at the concluding meeting of the first phase of the intellectual meet commonly known as Brahmin Sammelan and launching the party’s 2022 assembly campaign here on Tuesday at the state party headquarters.
Ms Mayawati minced no words to criticise the BJP as well as the previous Samajwadi party governments for atrocities on Brahmins, dalits and other communities.
“If we come to power, then a commission would be set up to probe all the atrocities and injustice done by BJP and SP during their regime,” she said.
During her around 50 minute speech, the former UP chief minister lambasted the BJP government over law and order and other issues with claiming that the Brahmins are living in fear in this regime.
She even asked, party Brahmin mascot and general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra to make a dedicated cadre of 1000 male and 1000 female from Brahmin community in each of the 403 assembly segments before the second phase of intellectual meet to be held at all the assembly constituencies.
Ms Mayawati in her speech also questioned RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat about his statement that Hindu and Muslims share same ancestors.” If you say that Hindu and Muslim have same ancestors then why RSS is anti Muslim and adopting a bias attitude toward this minority community,” she alleged.
Over Muslim issue, she said that the role of SP and Congress during the Muzaffarnagar riots were shameful and Muslims would not forgive them for their misdeeds.
The BSP president on the occasion claimed that during the past four time rule in UP, the party had adopted the ideology of Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya and never compromised with rule of law, corruption and law and order.
“I promise you that if voted to power we will follow the same ideology to serve our best,” she said while adding that every caste, community and sect would be given equal representation in the BSP government like done in 2007.
She said that earlier the party had planned this meeting at Ramabai Ambedkar ground in the state capital but due to government’s indifferent attitude, it was held at the party office.
Later Party general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra addressed the gathering amid blowing of conch shells and chanting of hyms by pandits.
Ms Mayawati was also presented a Trishul, conch shell and a silver elephant, the election symbol of the party, by the other party leaders.
This was the 75th Intellectual meet, one in each district of UP with the last one addressed by Mayawati in Lucknow.
