Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra has advocated early resumption of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and said that no meritorious candidate should lose any opportunity due to the APPSC paper leakage case.

The Governor said this when Chief Minister Pema Khandu called on him at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday.

It may be mentioned that after the APPSC-conducted AE (Civil) Main exam’s question paper leak episode came to light in August 2022, the State Government has suspended the top officials of APPSC including its Secretary Jayanta Kumar Ray and Joint Secretary cum Controller of Examination Suraj Gurung, while Commission Chairman Nipo Nabam and two other Members resigned on moral grounds.

The said recruitment examination was conducted on August 27 and 28, 2022.

So far, 46 persons including 39 State Government officials have been arrested in connection with the paper leak case, which is being investigated by the CBI.

The State Government will ‘soon’ form a Selection Committee to recruit a new Chairman and Members for the Commission (APPSC) for which advertisement has already been rolled out, CM Khandu has said recently.

During today’s meeting, the Governor and the Chief Minister also discussed the international border and security measures to mitigate the challenges on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), a communique from the Raj Bhavan said.

The Governor commended the Chief Minister for ‘earnestly’ pursuing the Namsai Declaration to resolve the boundary issues between the neighbouring states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

In their first meeting in the New Year, the Governor and the Chief Minister exchanged greetings and discussed new policies and programmes of state development in the year ahead.

Besides discussing the matters pertaining to the State University, road communications, and law and order, the Governor emphasized on implementation of the developmental projects and programmes within the given time frame, the communique added.
