Kakching: The District Administration Kakching in association with the District Social Welfare Office, Kakching organised awareness cum sensitization programme as a part of the District Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) Action Plan at Langmeidong, Kakching district, Manipur on Tuesday.
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) is a nationwide campaign launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in August 2020 to make India Drug-Free. It is being implemented in 372 of the most vulnerable districts based on the findings of the first Comprehensive National Survey and inputs from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The campaign intends to reach out to the masses and spread awareness about substance abuse through various activities like awareness generation programmes and focusing on higher educational institutions, university campuses, schools and the community along with identifying dependent populations, counselling along with treatment facilities in hospitals and rehabilitation centres. It also targets capacity building programmes for service providers.
The awareness cum sensitization programme conducted in Kakching district was attended by Elangbam Muhindro Singh, Caretaker Chairperson Langmeidong Gram Panchayat (GP); Yumnam Basanta Singh, Waikhong Zilla Parishad Administrative Committee Member; Sanasam Sarat Singh, Probation Officer, District Social Welfare Office and Yengkhom Basanta Singh, Social Awareness Volunteer Organisation (SAVO) Kakching.
