NCC Air Squadron celebrates 92nd IAF Day in Manipur

The celebration saw participation from the NCC fraternity, Air Wing cadets, local residents, students, and teachers of the school. A short film highlighting the remarkable achievements of the IAF was screened for the audience.

Imphal: The Manipur Air Squadron NCC, under the aegis of the NCC Group HQ Imphal, celebrated the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) with a special event at Ananda Purna School in Thoubal district. The celebration saw participation from the NCC fraternity, Air Wing cadets, local residents, students, and teachers of the school. A short film highlighting the remarkable achievements of the IAF was screened for the audience.

Brigadier SR Sharma, Group Commander of NCC Group Imphal, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, Brigadier Sharma spoke about the IAF’s significant role since its inception, noting its contributions to various military campaigns and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. He praised the IAF for its professionalism and global reputation, emphasizing its vital role in national security. Brigadier Sharma also highlighted the importance of national integration and the involvement of youth in nation-building, emphasizing the role of NCC cadets in fostering societal growth.

The event concluded with a recitation of the NCC Song and the National Anthem.

The Indian Air Force, established on October 8, 1932, has played a crucial role in safeguarding India’s airspace, conducting aerial warfare during conflicts, and leading humanitarian missions during natural disasters and emergencies. Known for its precision, technological advancements, and highly trained personnel, the IAF operates a diverse range of aircraft, including fighter jets, transport planes, helicopters, and drones.

With the motto â€˜Touch the Sky with Glory,’ the IAF continues to enhance its strategic capabilities through modern equipment, such as the Rafale jets and indigenous Tejas fighter aircraft, and by strengthening partnerships with global defense forces. The IAF remains a symbol of strength and national pride, as noted in a press release from the PRO Defence, Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.
