Brussels: The permanent representatives of NATO member states signed accession protocols at the alliance’s headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday in the presence of the foreign ministers of Sweden and Finland, the bloc said in a statement.
“NATO Ambassadors signed the Accession Protocols for Finland and Sweden at NATO Headquarters on Tuesday (5 July 2022), in the presence of Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde,” the statement says.
It is expected that after the signing of the accession protocol, it will be sent for ratification by all NATO members. According to media reports, this process may take several months.
